The Faces Behind the League: Our Story
The One Bounce Stickball League (OBSL) was founded by Johnnie LaRossa and Evan Hirschbaum, two lifelong friends who grew up playing stickball on the streets as kids. Driven by nostalgia and a passion for the game, they launched OBSL in August 2017 at Oak Street Park in Massapequa, Long Island.
The league’s first season was a huge success, proving that stickball still had a place in today’s world.
What started as a childhood pastime has evolved into a mission—to bring back the excitement of stickball, get more kids involved, and strengthen community ties. OBSL isn’t just about competition; it’s about keeping the spirit of the game alive for future generations.

At the One Bounce Stickball League (OBSL), our mission is to bring people from all walks of life together to build a strong, connected community through the love of competition. We believe in creating a space where players can compete at a high level, form lasting bonds, and keep the spirit of stickball alive and thriving.
Our Vision
We’re aiming big. OBSL is on a mission to grow into a nationwide league — connecting local communities across the country through the game we love. Our ultimate goal? A national championship tournament, March Madness-style, where the top teams face off for serious cash, pride, and the title of true champions.
